I am a big fan of good nutrition because I firmly believe that your body is composed of what you consume, so the better the ingredients (fresher, more natural, less processed, fewer or no additives) the better your body. The body is important because without your body, your mind and spirit have to reside elsewhere!
Recently I have been really paying attention to what I eat and drink. I have been drinking mostly filtered water and advocate for each individual to drink the best, cleanest, most natural water possible, and to drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day (if you weigh 150 lbs, then 75 oz. per day). A big thank you to Terry Givens for driving this point home! I have also been eating fewer wheat-based and carbohydrate items: less bread, less pasta, fewer potatoes. Also, as few processed foods as possible! And most recently, nothing with added sugar, that is anything with sugar or its relatives in the ingredients list. Honey and maple syrup are ok. Do you know how many packaged foods have sugar added? It seems like almost all of them! Peanut butter, jelly, granola, ketchup, yoghurt, pasta sauce, etc. Lastly, a fresh fruit or vegetable salad with every meal.
As a country, we in the USA need to eat better: medical costs up, health down, people bigger. Let’s encourage each other to take the time to shop for and prepare the freshest possible foods and drinks.
As always, enjoy the day!
