We were looking at property in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach yesterday and today–hope everyone did ok with the weather. We are thankful that we missed most of it, but it has been somewhat windy at times (60+ mph at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel!).

1243 Hanson Sold!

Pardon the interruption in blog posts–I have been doing construction for a friend. But, I did want to say the 1243 Hanson sold in September to a wonderful family! I drive by the two, new homes that we built and see how well the new owners are caring for the properties, how the whole street looks better, and I know we did a good thing. Bruce’s Park continues to move forward!

This is also a reminder to my Bruce’s Park neighbors to attend the next Civic League meeting Thursday, January 26 at the Jacox Elementary School auditorium. See you there!

Virginia Real Estate Market Summary

According to RealtyTrac, one of the premier websites regarding general real estate market and foreclosure trends, Virginia home sales for February 2014 were down 6% compared with the previous month, and down 17% compared with a year ago. The median sales price of a non-distressed home was $267,500. The median sales price of a foreclosure home was $170,299, or 36% lower than non-distressed home sales.

There are currently 34,175 foreclosure properties in VA that are listed for sale on RealtyTrac, and in March, the number of properties that received a foreclosure filing in Virginia was 25% higher than the previous month and 31% lower than the same time last year.

While the number of number of homes receiving foreclosure filings rose of the previous month, in general the number of filings is trending lower.
